| Abstract: | Yes folks, Fred & Andi of the A&S Dancehall-Edition started it, and now the Roots-Edition is coming up strong with some current rootical riddims... plus new releases and pre-releases!
NO WAR RIDDIM
The french Zenah-Music label brings us the "No War"-riddim, which should already be known from Sugar Minott's "Easy Mr. Bush"-tune. This one sounds like a boomshot from the 70's, and you find x-amount of versions on the "Zenah Music Meets Black Roots Productions"-album. A must-have btw, as this double-album features some unreleased Black Roots-productions on disc 1.
LION PAW RIDDIM
VP's "Riddim Driven"-series is still going strong - even more, since VP follows the current trend, which is... well, back to the roots! This one-drop is produced by Michael Johnson and comes straight from yard... best known from Morgan Heritage's "Hail Rastafari".
HARD TIMES RIDDIM
This one is riding high on the Reggae-charts at the moment with versions from Capleton, I-Wayne and Bascom X. Plus, it's the last work of the late great Eroll Thompson. Out on VP's "Riddim Driven"-series.
UNITY RIDDIM SESSIONS Vol. 1
This CD features three riddims created by multi-instrumentalist Jah Servant and features artists like Audrey Gordon, Sherwin Gardner and Wayne Stoddart. The magic here really is in the production-work of Jah Servant - and we will proof that on the next roots-edition of Ackee & Saltfish, when we review Jah Servant's stunning instrumental-album "Good Soil".
